I bought this around the Holidays of 2009 when they were having 50% off along with the Vitamin E eye cream and Moisture Intense cream. I needed a moisturizer that I can use for my oily skin at the time and the sales lady recommended me the Tea Trea Skin Clearing Lotion. She said it has shine control that will help mattify my oily skin as well as skin clearing properties from the Tea Tree oil. Hey, it seemed pretty good so I bought it.
WHAT: Moisturizing and mattifying lotion hat hydrates skin and controls oil while helping to clear and prevent blemishes.
- Lemon tea tree and Community Trade tea tree oil from Kenya contain properties that help fight blemishes and prevent new ones from forming.
- Tamanu oil from Madagascar has a soothing effect and helps to calm irritation and redness.
- Contains powders help mattify the skin and control shine (source: thebodyshop.com)
WHEN: I used it every day as my daytime moisturizer.
HOW: I applied with my finger tips on my entire face after cleansing and toning.
TEXTURE: very light and a bit watery.
SCENT: It really had a weird strong grassy smell but bothered me a lot. It was unbearable in the beginning but I was able to get used to it.
PRICE: $13 but some discount may apply if they have a promotion in the store or on-line.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I don't think I will be re-purchasing this product. I seriously had high hopes for it, but unfortunately it did not work too well on my skin. The strong grassy scent was such a turn off. The only reason why I still continued to use it because it did control the oil on my face fairly well. I used this product for a month and 2 weeks, every single day in the morning and only saw a slight disappearance of my blemishes. It wasn't enough to convince me that this product is good.
Oh and before I forget, stay away from this if you have extremely dry skin. It will make your dry skin worst than it is. It happened to my boyfriend when he went through my makeup kit and used it on his face lol. His face became ashy in an instant.

I think I should stay away from this even though I have oily skin. I'm afraid of "mattifying" lotions or moisturizers, they have never worked for me. I like The Body Shop though, I still use some of their products.
ReplyDeleteAnd I find it funny that your bf went through your makeup kit and tried the product himself. That's exactly what my boyfriend likes to do with my skincare stuff. He's like, "what's this for? And this? And this? Why do you need all these?" LOL. Boys are funny.
thx for this review :)
ReplyDeleteI love this range from The Body Shop, my hubby is using the Tea Tree oil after my raves :) And we're done with 3 bottles! :D
ReplyDeleteLol how cute that your boyfriend went through your stash! I have this as well and I have to agree its not all that great.
ReplyDeleteI have bought the Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash recently. I use it at night after taking off my makeup. So far I can't tell if it works but I find that it dries out my oily skin a bit. It's not too bad though because I use their Seaweed products too. They work pretty good on my skin. It's not the HG skin care though.

thanks !
ReplyDeleteGreat review i was thinking about looking into the tea tree line but i think ill stay away from this one i hate weird smelling face creams.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good review. I only hope the grass smell isn't there as I really have an annoyingly sensitive nose.
ReplyDeleteYup tea tree is definitely a drying agent. I don't mind a tea tree cleanser, but a lotion that stays on my face all day might dry me out too much. great post, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting about this! I didnt know tea tree was drying :[ I've always wanted to test something with it out but I'm too cheap to buy it, lol. I have really sensitive dry skin :[
ReplyDeleteI think generally Body Shop products are very nice...I've never tried this one from Body Shop but a dermatologist said to me usually you have to use a product for at least 6 months before you can experience its advantages.../such a turn off no? I like to try out new products always and I think I've never used anything for more than 2 months/.
ReplyDeleteBy the way fantastic product review Becky!
Thanks a lot!
