Must See September Favorites 2010

I admit, I'm a bit nosey. I like to watch other girls on youtube do their "monthly favs". They talk about makeup or skincare products they love to use for that certain month. It can either be old or new makeup finds, new skin care products or new found product love. It gives me an idea on products that people are loving and for some reason these types of videos where people just ramble on entertains me lol ^_^

So here are my favorites for this month of September. It's mix of old and new makeup/skincare finds. I hope you guys find it helpful.

1. Say Yes to Cucumbers. I am all over anything that has cucumbers. I love the clean and fresh scent it has and I like to eat it and put it in my sandwiches too ^_^. I'm glad I picked this up because I see myself buying more of these in the future. It takes my whole makeup off pretty well and I use it to freshen up my face at work.

2. NYX Doll Eye mascara. How many times have i mentioned this amazing mascara in my videos and blogposts? A lot! This is the mascara that I use the most ever since I got it. It doesn't look anything special but it does some amazing things to my lashes. It lengthens and volumize my lashes like there's no tomorrow. Ok, I'm exaggerating but it really is really good!

3. Rimmel London Fix and Perfect foundation primer. I currently have a thing for foundation primers O_o. I sometimes use them by itself and always underneath whatever foundation I choose to wear. I bought this because I've been lemming on it for awhile and I saw many blogger friends who uses it so I got it when I was at my local CVS. I really like it. Like any other face primers, it keeps my foundation still for a long time. The texture is not as smooth as the Smashbox photofinish foundation primer but it's still smooth and works well.

4. Revlon lipstick in Peach. This is the only shade I got when this line of lipstick came out this summer and it's one of my fav lipsticks at the moment. It's a beautiful Peach color, beautiful on its own because of the nice sheen and finish it has. You don't need the help of a lip gloss to enhance the life of the color.

5. Rimmel London lipstick in Spotlight Beige. Every makeup addict needs a good nude lipstick that matches their skin tone and doesn't make them look like Snookie. This lipstick is a perfect nude for my medium skin tone. It doesn't wash me out and it looks very natural. Also, the texture is smooth and moisturizing. It's great for everyday use and smokey eyes for night time.

6. Revlon Color Stay liquid foundation in Golden Caramel. Who hasn't heard of this lovely foundation? If you haven't then get on board and get yourself one. It has great coverage and it really stays on my face regardless if I wear a primer or not. Like what it's "color stay".

LOOK: Summer to Fall Makeup

Yesterday, Los Angeles hit a 113-115 degrees and it was the hottest day ever recorded in the history of L.A.  OMG, my skin felt like it was literally burning under the hot sun, I was sweating like crazy, the metal buckle on my purse was burning my arm and, I felt like I was dying. I've never killed so many water bottles in one day. At one point, I  didn't even want to leave to work where the a.c. was full blast lol

I don't know what's up with this weird weather but I hope this heat goes away soon and I am so ready for fall. With that being said, here is a makeup look combining burnt orange, shimmery burgundy and dark plum eyes with peach lips, colors that represents the transition from Summer to Fall. There is no video tutorial since it was too hot to film but I still hope you guys like it.

Mark Face Xpert liquid foundation in Golden

I used a burnt orange e/s on the inner 1/3 of the lid, shimmery burgundy e/s in the center and a dark plum on the outer corner and crease.

It's Way Too Light...Maybelline Dream Matte Powder

Every time I go to my local drugstore, the first section I visit is the makeup section. Regardless of what I need, my feet automatically takes me to makeup right away lol. Last week, my local Walgreens was
having 40%off on a lot of their makeup products and I spotted the Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Honey on sale. I've been seeing it in youtube videos raved by many makeup gurus, and I'm all about anything that will make my face matte so I purchased one for myself.

I noticed there were only 4 shades available. Weird and disappointing if you ask me. The shades were from light to medium and that's it! What about the other beautiful women with darker skin tones huh? Anyway, the shade Honey is the darkest one they have, and I looked way too light on me but I still purchased it thinking maybe I can make it work. Walgreens has 30 days return policy, so I wasn't too worried about it.

Like a little kid, I played with my new toy right when I got home. I swatched it with my finger and to my disappointment, I found the shade way too light than I expected. For some reason the shade looked warm in the store but it really looks cool once swatched and photographed. This is the problem with drugstore makeup. You can't test them before you buy and a lot of women end up buying the wrong shade of foundation O_o.

I compared it next to my Mark Powder Buff foundation in Golden and it's a pretty good match for my skin tone. Maybelline is obviously way too light as you can see in the photo...yikes!

Halloween has about a month to go, unless I plan on looking like Casper everyday then this foundation would be perfect lol. But seriously, there was no point of keeping it any longer, so I returned it the next day O_o.  I'm sure it's an awesome foundation. It's recommended by many women. but for now Maybelline if you are reading this, I hope you guys make more shades for us women who has medium to dark skin tone...pleaaase!!!

BH cosmetics 88 Matte palette + swatches+ EOTN

Every since I started loving makeup, I've been a sucker for makeup palettes from eye shadow to facemakep palettes . I have so many and I still get excited whenever I see one ^_^. I love how they are travel and makeup storage friendly because they fit anywhere and it really gets me when they have the cutest packaging. *sighs...* I guess you can never have too many palettes right? Anyway, I just want to share my new 88 Matte eyeshadow palette by BHcosmetics  from Valeree of MakeUpVideosAndMore. I won her little CONTEST a few weeks ago and it was one of my prizes whoo hoo!!

If you are an active makeup/beauty blogger or youtuber then you should be familiar with this palette. There are so many different kinds available in the internet. Several makeup companies carries them and you can get them on ebay as well. But this one if from BH cosmetics and I love it!

WHAT: This 88 piece matte eye shadow palette has all the brilliant colors you will need to bring out your beauty within! Long Lasting! Made with pure Mica pigments. This palette contains majority frosted textures and includes deep vibrant turquoises, plums, bronzes, and golds, matte eyebrow colours, liners, and shimmer highlighters.Bright, vibrant colors with rich pigmentation.Perfect for Makeup Artists and Photographers, TV/Film, or those who want to diversify their makeup collection. (source:

PRICE: $19.95

Talc, Mica, Mineral Oil, Kaolin, Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Lanolin, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
PACKAGING: A black rectangle palette with a glossy finish. It has a good mirror inside with 2 double sided sponge tip applicators inside. It is very light weight.
SIZE: Case size is 9" x 6.5" and the eye shadows are about a size of a dime.
TEXTURE: Even though it's called the "Matte Palette" is still has some eye shadows with shimmers in it. The texture varies and depends on the color but I can say that most of them are soft with good color payoff , easy to blend but a little powdery. There were only a few that were chalky and difficult to swatch.

This one doesn't have any BH cosmetics logo. It only has a sticker of how many eye shadows are in the palette which are 88.

I did some swatches with my fingers. The color payoff is pretty good with one swipe.

Swatches are on a white paper with no primer.

EOTN (eye-of-the-night) using the 88 Matte palette
After I did this Silver and Purple eye, I realized that I already did a similar LOOK a long time ago *shakes head * . But I still like it though and its a beautiful smokey eye for night time look. I used 2 shades of silver on the lids and 4 shades of purples on the outer corner, crease and above the crease.

  • Very affordable even though I didn't buy it ^_^. For 20 bucks, you get 88 colors to play with.
  • A great eye shadow palette to have if you are on a budget.
  • It has a really good matte black eye shadow. It's really black, matte and a really good color to do smokey eyes.
  • Travel and makeup storage friendly because it's slim and light weight.
  • Most of the shadows were easy to blend, soft and has good color pay off.
  • Some eye shadows were difficult to blend and were chalky.
  • The texture is powdery so I suggest to pat on the color instead of brushing it. You get less fall out and you get better color pay off.
  • The colors can be a little overwhelming if you are a beginner in makeup.

Overall, this palette is a must have in your makeup collection in my opinion. It has all the colors you need to create endless makeup looks from neautrals, colorful to bold and dramatic. It has a mixture of matte and shimmers...well it has more matte than shimmers which makes it even better. Matte colors shows up really well in photographs while shimmers can wash it out. A good balance of matte and shimmers in an eye makeup is beautiful and this palette will help you to achieve it. Also, for less than 20 bucks, it's a steal!
Thank you so much for stopping by and please drop a comment if you have any questions or concerns.

Apollo Sebo De Macho...scar remover whaaa???

You're probably thinking what the heck is Sebo de Macho? It literally means "a man's tallow". Tallow is a fatty substance extracted from sheep and cattle used to make soaps, candles and etc. It's true. Animal fats is one of the main ingredients in a a lot of bar soaps in the market today. But Sebo de macho is not a man's fat. It's just the name.

This is also house hold name in the Philippines. As a matter of fact, my mom, grandma and the rest of my family have used this for years. Most of the people I know who have used it can attest that it really works, while there are some who were disappointed. I did a lot of research online on how this product came about, ingredients and any valuable info nothing came up. I only found a bunch of testimonials from people saying that it works.

I do recall my mom putting it on my legs and knees when I was little kid because I used to scrape myself a lot from playing outside. Man, kids nowadays doesn't play like we used to back in the days. We used to play in the rain, run in the mud, play baseball, sipa, kickball, Chinese garter and never ending tag and hide and seek. Now kids are marinating their butts on the couch playing video games, and in front of youtube watching videos lol. But anyway, do I remember Sebo de Macho working? To be honest, not really. I can only say that I don't see any major scars on my legs. I don't know if it's from Sebo de Macho or simply my skin just improved over the years on its own.

I sent messages to my friends in the Philippines on Facebook asking about their thoughts on the product. They all said it worked for them and their families, but it depends on the age of the scars. The older the scar, the harder it is to remove. It can lighten it but it won't thoroughly remove it. Made sense to me.

It came in a really small container of 12g . The texture is like a balm. It's smooth, non-sticky, odorless and applies clear with a shiny finish that disappear after awhile. Apply it like you would apply cream on your skin but you only need a little bit and you massage it on top of the scar using your fingers.

It is available in the Philippines but you can purchase this on I got mine from my mom ^_^

Have you guys every heard of Sebo De Macho? Or do you know any scar removing products?

My Prizes from MakeupVideosAndMore

I love the feeling of knowing that there is a package waiting for me at home especially if I know if it's makeup. I know, I'm being silly but I love getting packages and opening them is like Chirstmas ^_^ A couple of days ago I won a video contest on youtube. Valeree of MakeUpVideosAndMore  hosted a contest on making a video of your take on a beginner's makeup kit. I gave it a shot and, I was lucky enough to be picked as her winner wooohooo!!! I never really get lucky with contest like this so this was kind of a big deal for me.

Anyway, she was very generous and gave me so many cool things and she added something that totally made me super happy!

She got me the 88 Matte eye shadow palette. If you're active in the makeup blogging or youtube community then for sure you have seen this already. I was really excited to get this because  most of the shadows in this palette are matte which means no shimmer or iridescent and I love those type of eye shadows. Matte gives you a sophisticated look. I can't wait to play with this and create so many looks.

I'm a sucker for makeup palettes. I can't get enough of them ^_^

It's my first time owning anything from Cargo cosmetics. I'm not sure if they are still around if its a pretty expensive makeup. I love the eye liner and lip gloss. They are so pigmented. I also can't wait to try the shimmer loose powder from NYX. I've never had a shimmery loose powder before so we will see how this one works.

And the last thing she got me is this super cool Urban Decay Face Palette. I love Urban Decay especially their eye shadows and makeup palettes so this one really made me go awwww. I'm in love with the packaging. It's the prettiest and skinniest palette. This is a bonus gift for being a long time subscriber of her channel. It's so thoughtful and sweet of Valeree to get me this. She didn't have to but she did so she's awesome.

The face palette consist of 3 eye shadows, 1 blush and 3 lip color. It's so pretty I don't even wanna touch or swatch it but at the same time I want to play with it already.

This is her note that she wrote me. She's really nice and sweet and that's why I love watching her videos before and now. She does a lot of easy to follow makeup tutorials she's really good at what she does so I suggest to subscribe to her!

Here is a video I did if you wanna see my reaction to the stuff that I got ^_^

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and welcome to all new followers ^_^
