Swatch/Photos: NYX Round Lipgloss in Real Nude

NYX Round Lipgloss in Real Nude is a gorgeous cool mauve nude shade with no shimmers. It's one of my favorite nude because it looks very natural and great for everyday use. It's opaque and covers the lips with one coat. The only downside of NXY round lipgloss is the weird scent. Some say it smells like Pinesol, while some say it smells like candy. Also, the doe-foot applicator is a bit flimsy. But other than that, it's a good and inexpensive lip gloss.

price: $2-3
availability: Discontinued, but still available at CherryCulture.com for $2

Swatch/Photos: NYX Round Lipgloss in Doll Pink

Sorry, I meant lipgloss not lipstick.

NYX Round Lip Gloss in Doll Pink is a gorgeous fuschia with purple shimmers. I love this lip gloss because it's like a liquid lip color. It's opaque and covers the entire lips with one layer. You can also use it to top a lipstick, but you don't have to. It's simply gorgeous on it's own. It's non sticky and applies smoothly on the lips. It last about 3 hours of wear, but I don't mind re applying it because it's moisturizing on the lips.

My bare lips.

NYX round lipgloss in Doll Pink on my lips. See how it covered my entire lips?

price: $2-3
availability: They are discontinued, so you won't see them on the NYX website anymore. However, you can still purchase them at CherryCulture.com for $2

Review: Rimmel London Fix&Perfect Foundation Primer is LOVE!

I recommend the Rimmel London Fix and Perfect foundation primer if you've always been curious if a foundation primer is needed in your makeup routine. You can start with this product because it's inexpensive and very good.

WHERE: Available at your local drugstores for $7.79

It's peach tint that dissipates quickly to a powder finish leaving a smooth and matte surface, which makes foundation application easier.

HOW: Use this product after moisturizer. Sqeeze a small amount of primer and dot it all over the face:forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, then blend with fingers or cosmetic sponge. Now, you can apply your favorite foundation on top.

Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer on my face. It slightly evens out my skin tone.

I've been using this primer for a long time and it has made a difference with my makeup. The texture is not  slippery as most foundation primers (silicone based) I've tried, yet it leaves my face a silky and smooth surface, making foundation application easier. It really does make my foundation (liquid, cream or powder) last longer and keeps excess oil on check. This primer saves my face from looking oily, so I will never skip it.

FOTD: Bright Under Eyes and Doll Pink Lips.

This is the makeup look I wore today. Not so exciting is it? LOL. I mentioned in previous FOTD that I'm currently into simple makeup looks with light eye makeup and bold lips. It's not that I don't want to play with eye shadows anymore, I'm just really liking how my eyes look without too much makeup and I play more on the lips by choosing a bright and bold lipstick or gloss.

For this look, I did a soft contouring on the eyes using MAC blush in Gingerly. This blush is my current favorite. It's light enough to be a blush and dark enough at the same time to be used as a contour shade. I then brightened my under eyes with a light concealer (Physicians Fomula Strength Rx in Soft Yellow). This is a bit tricky to pull off.  You really must blend the concealer very well. I used a damp sponge to pat the concealer down until it blends onto the skin and slightly blend it down the cheekbones. I guess I should do a tutorial next time to show you how I do it. It makes my face look bright and awake. I defined my face by applying a bronzer (Milani Mosaic blush in Afterglow) under my cheekbones and the jaw line. I never skip this step. I like how it pops up my cheek bones and makes my face look slimmer.

Products used:

-Rimmel Fix and Perfect foundation primer
-MAC Studio Fix fluid in NC42
-Physicians Formula Strength Concealer in Soft Yellow
-MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in Medium Deep (review)

-NARS blush in Orgasm
-Milani Mosaic Blush in Afterglow (review/swatch)

-BeautiControl Mineral Eye Shadow Trio in Sandstone (review/swatch)

-EyesLipsFace Eye Lid Primer
-MAC powder blush in Gingerly (review/swatch)
-Milani Single eye shadow in Illusion
-Maybelline  Falsies Volum' Express mascara (review)
-No name brand brown liquid liner

-EOS lip balm in Summer Fruit (review).
-Wet n Wild lip liner in Willow
-Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick 901B Think Pink (review/swatch)
-NYX Round Lipgloss in Doll Pink (review/swatch)

For my lips, I first applied Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick in 901B Think Pink. It's a soft pale nude pink. I was able to pull off this shade a month ago. I've gotten a bit darker, so now it looks pasty on me. To make it work, I topped it with NYX Round lipgloss in Doll Pink, which is a bright fuchsia with purple undertone. It looks much better.

Wet n Wild Mega Last in Think Pink then topped with...

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

Review: BeautiControl. Mineral Eye Shadow palette in Sandstone

WHO: All skin types

WHAT: BeautiControl Mineral Eye Shadow Trio in Sandstone
WHEN: Permanent

WHERE: Available at the BeautiControl website for $18

HOW:  Check out my step by step photo tutorial HERE on how to use this trio. I used it to create everyday neutral eyes and fill in my eye brows.

Camel shadow on the inner half and dark brown shadow on the outer half of the brow.

If you are a neutral makeup kind of girl, then this trio is for you! It has 3 complimentary eye shadows to create a gorgeous everyday neutral eyes or even fill in your eye brows just like I did. The quality is comparable to MAC eye shadows or even better. They are very pigmented and true to it's colors. The texture is soft and luxurious and non-powdery. It has a slight creaminess to them and applies nice and smooth on the lids. They also last for a long time with a good base underneath. The only drawback is the availability of the product. You will have to find a BeautiControl consultant or go to their website to purchase it.

After this review, I'm going to santinize it, then give it back to my cousin. It's going to be a bit difficult to part ways with it haha.

I met Blair...Juicystar07

Do you know who this pretty girl is? Her name is Blair Fowler or better known as Juicystar07 on youtube. She's a youtube celebrity if you ask me! This 17 year old does makeup tutorials, makeup hauls and vlogs or "juicyjabber" and has 600,000+ subscribers...WOW! I remember when she first started making videos 2 years go. She was only 15 then, and I found myself watching and learning beauty tips from this young teen. I like her bubbly personality, and she really knew what she's talking about ^_^.

This photo was taken awhile back at my work (Los Angeles, Ca). I got to talk to her for a bit and she was super nice, easy to talk to and super down to earth.  And man, she was super tall... or I'm just super short. I'm only 5'0 feet tall and 2 inches heels didn't help haha.

Here are some photos I took from the IMATS 2010. Click here to see more photos.

Quicky Tip: Scent Drawer/Closet With A Bar of Soap

Yardley of London soap is a popular pick in our shower. It's moisturizing and it smells amazing. It's my mom's favorite bar for years, and now it's my favorite too. My mom also uses it to scent drawers and closet. She simply puts a bar of soap in the back corner of the drawer/closet and it leaves a nice light fresh scent that is quite enjoyable. Hope this quicky tip is helpful.

Review/Photos: MAC powder blush in Gingerly

I never thought I would love this blush because it looks a bit dark in the pan and thought it would never work with my NC42-44 skin tone. But it does and it looks really pretty. It's a nice neutral (peachy brown) shade that adds warmth to my face. It goes with any eye makeup and lip color I use. It's now my go to blush, and I love it.

WHO: All Skin Types

WHAT: MAC Powder Blush in Gingerly
  • shade: Gingerly- described as a capri bonze on the MAC cosmetics website. To me, it looks like a peachy browish shade.
  • finish: sheertone- micro refined pressed powder.
  • texture: smooth with a slight creaminess. Very luxurious.
  • price: $19.50

WHEN: Permanent

HOW: Using a fluffy blush brush, smile and dab it on the apple of the cheeks and brush it upwards towards the temple. You can also use it as a contour color on the eyes. Just use a fluffy blending brush and apply it on the crease for a slight definition on the eyes.

What it looks like on me.

Do you own this blush? If you don't then I highly recommend that you get it when you get a chance.  It's neutral so it goes with any skin tone. Just keep in mind that it's quite pigmented for a sheer blush, so don't dip your brush too hard in the pan or you'll end up using too much product. The only drawback I could say is the price. We all know MAC blushes are expensive, but it's a great quality product that's worth every penny.
