It's been forever since I did a high-end product review on this blog. I give more attention to my drugstore makeup because I love them so much that I have forgotten my high-end ones that are worth mentioning. I got this Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eye liner in Mat Black in a Holiday Kit as a gift from Kiko last Christmas, and I only got around to using it these past couple of months. I'm weird, I know!
The Make Up For Ever line is known to have great quality makeup and I have heard so many great things about this liner, so I already knew it going to be great. And it is! This eye liner pencil is awesome and far by the best eye liner pencil I've ever tried.
Description taken from Sephora.com:
-An award-winning, waterproof, smudge-proof, and fade-proof eyeliner that doubles as a vibrant eyeshadow.
-This best-selling eyeliner has become a favorite among all women who fear the dreaded raccoon eyes. Formulated to glide on effortlessly and withstand the most extreme conditions, it stays put on eyelids without melting for precise application and intense color throughout the day.
What I like:
-The texture is soft enough to apply on the eye lids and water line without tugging on the skin.
-It's easy to smudge and dries to a matte finish.
-The color black is a true black...not gray or greyish black..It's black!
-Works great as a dark base underneath eye shadows to intensify the color.
-It really is waterproof, smudge proof and last all day! I wore it when I went to the dessert with Kiko. We were out the whole day and I even scratched my eyes a couple of times. When I got home, I looked in the mirror and it was still there! The liner on the water line faded a little, but it was still visible. Other liners melts in a matter of minutes.
What I don't like:
-The price. $18 is pretty expensive for an eye liner. That's like 18 Double Cheeseburgers at MickeyD's! But I say it's worth it. It's stays on all day and you don't have to worry about touch ups.
-I cringe a bit whenever I sharpen it because I waste a little bit of the product. A retractable pencil would be ideal.
I know it's expensive, but I think it's worth the investment (It's funny how I call an expensive makeup an investment so I can make myself feel better lol). I even bought another one for my freelance makeup kit. You can go to a Sephora near you so you can give it a test drive before you purchase. Or just ask your friends and family to get you one for Christmas ^_^.
