LOOK: Smoky Eyes and Red lips.

I've seen a lot of biased opinions on "Dramatic Eyes with Bold Lips". It's a general rule that one should never do both at the same time. It's clownish, it's too much and just won't work unless if it's for a high fashion look or a creative photo shoot. Well, as a beauty and makeup junkee, I believe people shouldn't limit the possibilities of creating a beautiful makeup look. Just make sure that it suits you and you love it. Heck, who cares what other people say, just be confident and rock it! Here, I did a black smoky eyes and bold red lips at the same time. It's not my go to look whenever I go out but it's something I like to do from time to time. Did I manage to make it work? I think so. ^_^

For the eye makeup, I applied a black gel liner as a base all over the lids (you can use a black eye liner pencil) and topped it off with a black shadow. Then, I used a bronze shadow to blend the edge of the black and create a slight definition on the crease.

For my lips, I used Wet n Wild lip liner in Berry Red and applied it all over the lips. It's the perfect matte red shade and no need for a lipstick or gloss.

Review/Swatch: NYC Lip Sliders

I got a bit excited when I spotted these NYC Lip Sliders tinted lip balm at my local Dollar Tree for just a buck! I've heard so many great things about them from fellow beauty bloggers, so I wanted to try them out for myself. I've tested it out for about a week and uhh...I don't like it O_o

SHADE, COVERAGE
The shades I got were Sugar Baby (berry red) and Sugar Coated (baby pink).  They may look bright and intimidating in the packaging, but the colors goes on very sheer...no it's actually clear on the lips. It shouldn't even be called tinted because it doesn't give a tint of color on the lips.

SCENT, TEXTURE, LONGEVITY
This slightly sweet sugar scented lip balm is really sticky and goes on tacky on the lips O_o. The stickiness slightly goes away after awhile but you can still feel it's there. One day at work, I was eating crackers and the crumbs got stuck on my lips...not pretty. Also, because of it's stickiness, it'll last for awhile about 4 hours or so but a little bit will come off if you decide to eat or drink.

PACKAGING, USAGE
I think the packaging is adorable. It comes in a tin container with a slide top that clicks when you open and close. I also like the clear plastic window on the cover allowing you to see the tinted balm inside. To use, you have to use your fingers to get the product and apply it on your lips. I don't mind this but if you're one of those people who doesn't like to stick their fingers in lip balms then this is not for you.

INGREDIENTS
You can find it on the back of the lip balm.

DOES IT MOISTURIZE?
My answer is surprisingly yes! It was able to keep my lips from drying up. I just don't like the sticky feeling of it O_o

Sugar Baby

Sugar Coated

This is how Sugar Baby looks on my lips. It's a deep berry red shade in the packaging but it goes on clear on the lips. Sugar Coated goes clear as well so it wouldn't make sense to swatch it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Ummm...this is a no-no for me. The packaging is cute and it is moisturizing on my lips, but the sticky texture turns me off. I don't really mind sticky lip balms or glosses but this is too sticky icky lol. On the bright side, it's still cute and looks pretty on my vanity table lol. Would I recommend it to a friend? No!

price: $2.99 or less
availabity: drugstores or discount stores.

Review/Photos: NYX Round lipsticks (Lip Smacking Fun Colors)

If you want to experiment with different lip colors but doesn't want to break the bank, then I highly recommend the NYX Round Lipsticks. It's a standard, but pretty good lipstick with a creamy texture that's available in an array of beautiful colors. They have all the colors you can imagine and for only $3.99 or less you will end up buying a whole bunch and not feel bad about it ^_^

 LONGEVITY, TEXTURE
NYX website promised these are long lasting and smudge proof, but I didn't experience that at all. In fact, these will fade on you in a matter of an hour. To prolong the wear, I apply the lipstick, blot it with tissue and apply another layer. Blotting with tissue gets rid of the excess oil. The texture is very creamy and has a tendency to bleed outside the lip line, so make sure you apply it carefully.

COLORS, FINISH, COVERAGE
They are available in over 140 beautiful shades. They have it from nudes, pinks, reds, browns to purples and even black. If you can't find a color you like then you must be color blind ^_^. The coverage depends on it's finish. A creamy matte is more opaque while satin, lusters and metallics are medium but buildable. Also, it's difficult to distinguish the finish of the lipstick when looking at the swatches on the  NYX website. I pretty much rely on makeup bloggers for real swatches.

INGREDIENTS
Ceresin Wax, Polyethlene Wax, Microcrystalline Wax, *Beeswax, *Lanoline Oil, *Isopropyl Myristate, *Mineral Oils, *Octyl Palmitate, *BHA, Propyl Paraben, *Mica, *Titanium Dioxide, D&C Red No.A1 Lake, Pearl Powder, Iron Oxide
The mineral oils provides a moisturizing benefit.

PRICE, AVAILABILITY
The price tag is unbeatable. You can get these for only $3.99 or less depending on where you get them. I get mine at the Fashion District in Downtown L.A. for a $1. But you can purchase them online such as NYXCherryCultureULTAAmazonMakeupGeek and ebay. Let me know if there are other places where you can get them and I'll add them here. You can also spot them at independent beauty supply stores and salons, so look around your area.

They have sticker labels on the top of the cover. I love it when makeup companies put labels/names in their products. It gives a lipstick it's own character.

I love how you can see the shade on the bottom of the lipstick. It makes my life easier whenever I'm looking for a certain shade I'm in the mood for.

FINAL THOUGHTS
For the price, these lipsticks are awesome! Yes, these are not long lasting, but just layer on the colors and re-apply when you need to ^_^. I recommend this to everyone especially if you're a beginner in makeup and doesn't want to spend too much money on lipsticks.

What is your favorite nyx round lipstick?

Review/Swatch/Eye Makeup: Physicians Formula Baked Collection wet/dry eyeshadows in Baked Sugar

Here is a quick review of my Physicians Formula Baked Collection wet/dry eye shadow in Baked Sugar. I got it at my local CVS Pharmacy during their makeup clearance sale for 75% off. It wasn't exactly the palette I was lemming on, but it was the only one on sale so I went ahead and purchased it. It was only $2.09 so why the heck not!

SHADE, TEXTURE, FINISH
Baked Sugar consist of 3 colors, a champagne pink, white and a champagne taupe, all pigmented with shimmery/frosty finish wet or dry. When used dry, the texture is soft and applies smoothly on the eye lids. When used wet, it applies a bit streaky so make sure you pat and swipe with a brush to deposit the color better.

LONGEVITY, INTENSITY
The shadows last a long time wet or dry especially with a good primer underneath. When used wet, the color of the shadows intensifies, giving it a metallic finish except for the darker shade in the palette that is supposed to be the contour shade (champagne taupe). It's too shimmery and wasn't dark enough to be a contour color and doesn't add any definition to the eyes at all. A good eye shadow palette should have at least one matte contour shade and this palette doesn't so booo!

USAGE:
Now as promised in the packaging, this palette is supposed to help you create a beautiful eye makeup using only the 3 colors to highlight, contour and line the eyes. It even has an eye diagram at the back of the packaging showing where to place the colors. It's really a neat idea and definitely helpful but I found a problem with the palette. The colors are very pretty on it's own but when used all together in one eye makeup? Forget about it! Your eyes are going to look like a shiny disco ball. Remember, they have a frosty finish and frosty shadows creates no definition on the eyes at all. It can also look washed out in photographs because the shimmers reflects the flash of the camera. You'll see it in the makeup I did using this palette (phots below)

TIP:
Don't use the shadows in the palette all together. Mix in a shadow with a matte finish, meaning no shimmer or shine to create balance. Also, you can use the shadows individually to highlight your face to bring in light and give it a dewy look. Apply it on the top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and on the tip of the lips.

Swatches

These were swatched dry. I didn't bother taking a photo of the swatch wet because there wasn't a huge difference.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
This is not a bad palett just promise me not to use it all together to create an eye makeup. The shadows are too shimmery and frosty and doesn't compliment any eyes. Like what I said, mix in a matte shadow preferably a matte contour shade to create definition and balance to the look.

availabity: CVS
price: $7.95

EYE MAKEUP using BAKED SUGAR

Do you see what I mean? It's nothing but frost and you can't even see the colors...not good!

Do you own any Physicians Formula Baked Collection palettes? If so, which one do you have?
