Making Faces...My First Makeup Book!

Time is going by so fast and I can't believe this week is almost over. Well, I guess I should be glad because it hasn't been a good week for me, especially that horrible incident on Monday ugh!! But I'm thankful for my Baby Cakes for being there for me and giving me nothing but love and support. Also, thank you to Sophie for being a great listener ^_^.

I want to share a book, a makeup book that I love so much. It's my very first makeup book. I bought it a few years ago when I first started playing with makeup. Makeup application wasn't easy as I thought it would be. At first, I turned to Youtube for help and discovered beautiful girls doing makeup tutorials. It was entertaining as well as addicting. I copied their looks and mainly focused on eye shadow application. It was often a disaster, until I watched Josh a.k.a Petrilude's "How I Started with Makeup" video and he mentioned a makeup book that helped him learn about makeup. It is called, Making Faces by the late celebrity makeup artist, Kevin Aucoin. Josh showed a couple of pages from the book and I immediately ordered it on Amazon.com. It was impulsive, but worth it!

What's in it?
  • Foreword by the respected actress, Gena Rowlands.
  • Introduction. Learn about Kevny Aucoin's amazing life and journey on how he became a makeup artist and his struggles growing up being gay in his home town. Lots and lots of fun photos of him and his family.
  • Making The Face. It is the core of the book. It tells you everything you need to know about makeup and etc. I love how it concentrated on the basics and the obvious. For example, it talked about the importance of skin care and learning your own face structure. It was an eye opener. Never thought of learning the parts of my face would be so important. Once you learn this, everything else is much more easier to understand.
  • A Gathering. Before and After looks of every day people with step by step makeup tutorials. It shows how makeup can enhance one's face and make them even more beautiful.
  • Great Looks. Mind blowing celebrity makeovers with step by step tutorials. You will never recognize some of the celebrities. It's crazy!!!

Here are some of the pages from the book.

So many informative tips and tricks!

This is Gwyneth Paltrow as the Enigma. There are so many awesome celebrity looks in the book, but this one if my favorite!

I love this makeup book and I highly recommend it for beginners as well as makeup artists. I feel like this book will never go out of style. All the makeup looks are beautiful and timeless and the makeup tips and how to's are very helpful and effective.

Do you have this book? What do you think?
