Total Beauty Collection: Zents, Skindinavia, Murad and Sole Society

Hey guys, happy Friday!!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. I'm off today so I spent the whole day with Kiko running some errands. I also did a little shopping at H&M and Forever 21 for some basic plain t-shirts, cardigan, tights and camis. Nothing too interesting so I don't think I'm going to blog about them

Anyway, here is another sampling service you might find interesting. I was sent the Total Beauty Collection to try. It's a sampling service created by Total Beauty. Are you guys familiar with TotalBeauty.com??? It's like MakeupAlley.com, but better!!! It's an an online resource for makeup, skin care and hair reviews. They have tons of product reviews, beauty tips, heath and diet advice and etc.

What do you need to know?

-The purpose of Total Beauty Collection is to help people test premium brands before they commit to a full size product.
-Total Beauty Collection will send you 4-6 deluxe beauty samples
-You don't have to subscribe. It's NOT a monthly subscription service!!!
-You know what you are getting. It will always be on their website.
-It cost $15
-They offer free shipping.

Here is their current Total Beauty Collection Box. It consist $40 worth of products. They also threw in some other samples that will be included in the future collection.

Murad Youthful Skin Trio
1. Murad Refreshing Cleanser
2. Murad Sheer Lustre Day Moisturizer
3. Murad Renewing Eye Cream (Not in the photo. I gave it to my mom before I was able to photographed the items. Sorry!)

Zents Body Lotion plus 2 Zents fragrance samples. I've never heard of this brand before. The perfume samples smells really nice.

Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray sample. I was so excited to see this in the box. I've been hearing about this brand/product for a long time. I currently use another brand of finishing spray and I'm so excited to try this one out!

Sole Society $15 Shopping Credit. Sole Society is an online shoe store. I've seen the website before and all the shoes they carry are gorgeous and great quality. Each pair is $50. I can surely put this card into good use!

I also received some EXTRAS that will be included in future Total Beauty Collection. These are not included in their current collection.

Blue Copper 5 Firming Elasticity Repair
Jonathan Dirt Texturizing Cream

NYX Roll On Shimmer in Blue
Bamboo Color Care UV+ Fade Proof Fluid

Overall, I like all the samples included in the box, except for the skin care. I currently use a face regimen that works for me so I won't be able to give the Murad trio a try. I will just give it away. But I like the rest of the samples and I can surely put them into good use. I also like the fact that it's not a subscription service so no one will feel stuck to receive the box every month. Also, You can see the samples ahead of time, which will always be on their website so you have a choice if you want to order the box or not. I really am considering a Total Beauty Collection in the future.

Pinay Gurus Meet and Greet!

While everyone was at IMATS on Saturday (International Makeup Trade Show) in Pasadena, Ca, I was at work all day. I just got a new job and I wasn't able to get a day off. My initial plan was meet my fellow Youtube Filipino Makeup gurus and go to Imats together, but even they ended up not going because tickets were sold out. So, after work, I took the train to Pasadena to see them!

I had soooooo much fun hanging out with these girls. It's my first time meeting them in person, but we all have been friends in Youtube and Instagram for about a year now. Kiko thought it was weird that I'm meeting people that I barely know, but I assured him that I'll be okay and that these girls aren't psycho haha...

From left: Grace, Rose, Rebecca, Me and Haidee in the Ipad haha!

We spent the whole night chatting, making "chika chika", getting to know one another, eating and facetiming with Haidee or BloomingLovely1. I was so surprised how much we all have in common. We laughed so much and it was just so much fun talking in our language. I told them I don't really have Filipino friends, so our meet up meant a lot. We also filmed 2 videos which was so much fun to do. Hopefully I can have one of them up on my channel soon.

Check out their youtube channels when you get a chance.

Grace or xoGoxo on Youtube. She flew in all the way from Chicago just to hangout with us. She's so cute and I just love her fun and bubbly personality.

Rose or Kiray08ever on Youtube. She's a wife and mom of a beautiful girl. She's so pretty and super funny!  She lives in Pasadena, which is about an hour away from where I live so I can visit her.

We had our little feast around 10pm. We had pepperoni pizza, spaghetti and garden salad. Thank you, Ate Rose for getting the food!

Some photos I posted on Instagram!

Here is our blooper video. It cracks me up every time I watch it lol. We spoke both English and Tagalog so you might not understand what were talking about.

Have a lovely day!!!

Work Makeup/Daytime Smoky Eyes Tutorial featuring City Color Cosmetics.

What's an appropriate work makeup? Well, it depends on your work. If you work at MAC cosmetics or any makeup counter, you can get creative with your makeup and show your skills. But if you work at an office that requires you to dress conservative, you might want to tone down the makeup and save the rainbow eyes on the weekends. Makeup sure to check with your work policy and find out what's appropriate and what's not.

I filmed myself while getting ready to go to work. I can pretty much wear any kind of makeup to work, but I decided to do a subtle smoky eyes. It's wearable for daytime and appropriate for most work.

For the eye makeup, I used my new eye shadow palette by City Color Cosmetics. You can get it at your local Rite Aid. It's my first time trying this brand and I'm really impressed with the quality of the eye shadows.  I used shimmery bronze, vanilla and black. They were easy to apply and pigmented. I really like it.

FaceOfTheDay: Salsa Lessons

A new lipstick I'm loving at the moment is Wet n Wild Mega Shield lip color in Salsa Lessons. I wore it to work a few days ago and I was loving the color and wear so much. It's a bright red with pink undertone that looks freakin' awesome against my medium/tan skin tone. It lasted about 4 hours before I saw fading and it didn't dry out my lips at all. You can read my full review HERE.

I did a simple neutral eye makeup to compliment the red lips. I did a little contouring on the eyes and a subtle cat eye liner.

Here's what I used...

Wet n Wild Mega Shield Lip Colors with SPF 15 Pt. 3....Gorgeous Nudes!!!

Here is the last part of the Wet n Wild Mega Shield Lip Colors with SPF 15. This group consist of beautiful nude shades that are worth checking out. A couple of the lipsticks have the same metallic finish that I don't like, but the rest have a beautiful glossy finish that are just so beautiful.

What I like:
  • Most of the nudes looks very natural especially if you have medium to tan skin tone. It may be too dark for people with pale to light skin tone though.
  • Texture. You will fall in love at first application. These apply so smooth and buttery.
  •  They are soooo moisturizing. I've applied them with or without a lip balm underneath and my lips didn't dry at all.
  • They are lightweight. They feel like a lip balm. They are super pigmented. I thought they would be sheer because of it's lightweight and creamy texture, but one swipe is all you need to get a good color pay off.
  • It last about 3-4 hours without drinking or eating, which is pretty good!
  • SPF 15. It's getting hot already and these have SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun.
  • Super affordable $2.99.

What I don't like:
  • Birthday Suit is my least favorite. It's too pale and the metallic finish does not suit my skin tone as well as my age.
  • Poor packaging. But I can live with it.

Barely Legal is the perfect natural nude color with a glossy finish. Gaaahhh...you have no idea how in love I am with this color. It's the perfect nude for my medium/tan skin tone. It blends with my natural lip color beautifully. It's a great everyday color and since it's nude, it pretty much goes with any eye makeup.

Ring Around The Rosy is tad darker than Barely legal with a glossy finish. I like it.

Arrest Me Copper looks quite dark in the tube but it's a medium copper brown with a gold sheen, which hopefully you can see in the photo.

Birthday Suit is pale nude with metallic finish. It doesn't look good on me at all. It's too pale and the metallic finish is not flattering on my medium/tan skin tone. It will probably look better on pale to light skin tone.

Make Me Blush is a medium warm peach shade with a metallic finish. I can kind of pull off of this color but I still don't like the metallic finish.

Which one is your favorite?

FaceOfTheNight: Graduation Dinner

Hey guys, I just want to share a makeup look I wore to my friend's graduation dinner last week. I'm so proud of my friend Grace. All her hard work and perseverance has finally paid off. She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's degree in Art History whooo hooo!!!

For this look, I decided to do a gold and brown smoky eyes with nude lips. I've done this kind of look plenty of times. A shimmery color on the lids and a dark color on the crease then blended out with a blending brush. It's pretty easy to do. I also applied a forest green eye liner on my upper lash line and water line. It's not as harsh as a black eye liner, yet it still defined and framed my eyes. Hopefully you can see it because it's a pretty color.

Here's what I used...

face:
-Rimmel London Fix and Perfect foundation primer
-MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC42
-Almay Eye Base concealer in light/medium
-MakeUpForEver HD Powder

brows:
-NYC Brow Kit in Brunette

eyes:
-Urban Decay Primer Potion
-NYX eye shadow in Yellow Marigold
-Wet n Wild Color Icon I Heart Matte eye shadow palette (Brown and Black eye shadows)
-Physicians Formula Organic Wear eye liner pencil in Black Olive

cheeks:
-Sally Hansen Natural Beauty by Carmindy in Cherub

lips:
-Wet n Wild Color Icon lip liner in Willow
-Revlon Matte lipstick in Nude Attitude (applied lightly by dabbing. It's the only way I can make this color work because it's too pale for my skin tone.)

Hope you guys like this look.

We went to The Stinking Rose restaurant in Beverly Hills. As you call probably tell by the name and the cute and funny hat in the photo below, it's a garlic restaurant haha. OMG, I love it!!! Their food is really good and  super garlicky. I'll talk more about it on my food blog.

My friend Grace and I.

Thank you for stopping by. I'll see you in my next post ^_^.

I miss you guys! I'm so sorry for the lack of post. I didn't mean to be away for so long. I have't been able to update for personal reasons. But I do update my Instagram everyday, so you can follow me there if you like ^_^. Hopefully, I can get back into my blogging groove.

For now, I want to share an info that I received from MTV. A new episode of one of their popular shows, MADE is going to air a new episode called Dream Bigger "Makeup Mogul".+

MTV says, "In the show, we follow Rachel, a tough-as-nails college student who is given the opportunity to lunch her own makeup brand. As you can expect, there are a few bumps along the road, but with the promise of debuting her line at the International Beauty Show in Manhattan, Rachel is forced to keep her eye on the prize." (Taken from MTV press release)

June 2012 Birchbox...Eyeko, the Balm and random ziploc bag???

Happy Monday! I hope you all are having an awesome beginning of the week. Today was pretty exciting. I got 3 packages in the mail  wooo hooo!!! Don't you just love getting stuff in the mail? I do! I feel like it's my birthday haha...

The first one I'd like to share is my June Birchbox. Birchbox is a monthly subscription service where you pay $10 a month and you get 4-5 high-end deluxe beauty samples right at your door step. I've been a subscriber for a long time and I really like their service. They do have their ups and downs, but for the most part, they are a good company, and I always feel like I get my money's worth.

This month's theme is "Jet Set".

Product List

Comodynes Self-Tanning Intensive and Uniform Color. These seems like a really good product. It promises a natural looking tan. Too bad I can't use it. I'm already tan. Oh, I know! I'll make my best friend. She always complains about her legs being pasty white (Hi Monica if you're reading this haha).

A full size Eyeko Fat Eye Stick. OMG! MY very first Eyeko product! It's a really popular UK brand and I was so excited to see in my Birchbox! I can't wait to play with this eye shadow pencil.

Likewise Facial Moisturizer Sun Protectant SPF50 Normal To Oily. It's a moisturizer, mattifier and sunblock all in one. Although it sounds like a great skin care product, I could really care less for another moisturizer. I still have other face creams from past Birchbox that I haven't tried.

the Balm Cosmetics Stainiac in Beauty Queen. My first the Balm product, yay!!! It's a 2 in 1 cheek and lip stain. I know the color looks bloody red and scary, but it's actually quite sheer, and the fact that you can use it for blush and lip color is pretty awesome!

EXTRA
This sample of a Tili Bag is a great example of why Birchbox makes me laugh and say, "Are you serious?" haha. Birchbox likes to add random non-beauty related samples in the box. Really? It's a dang ziploc bag! I don't even like the pattern and the colors are ugly O_o. A pack of 9-12 bags retails for $8.49 to $9.49. I don't know anyone who would shed that much money on plastic. Would you?

Birchbox  Man: Jon Varvatos cologne sample. I think it's pretty cool that Birchbox is starting a box for men called Birchbox Man. But I don't know any of my guy friends who would be interested in such service. All of them are into video games and sports and as far as I know, guys are very picky when it comes to stuff they put on their face. It's also more expensive than the regular Birchbox. For $20 a month, they will get samples of grooming products and life style goods. from top brands.

Overall, I'm really happy with this month's Birchbox. The full size Eyeko eye pencil did it for me!

Did you get your Birchbox yet?

Go to Birchbox.com if you want to learn more about their service.
