Rainbow Eyes Makeup Tutorial

Hey loves, I created this super bright and bold rainbow eye makeup look as my last Summer makeup tutorial on my Youtube channel. Fall is approaching and I'm slowly putting aside my bright eye shadows and lip colors. It's my first time creating such a bright and bold look with a lot of colors. I love it. Blending is key to pull off this kind of look. You want the eye shadows to have a nice transition and not muddy or patchy. Watch my makeup tutorial to see how I did it.

Review/SWATCHES: ELF Studio Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California

I'm a sucker for eye shadow palettes and I recently tried ELF Studio Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California. It consist of cool neutral baked eye shadows great for day and night. It's a great palette but there are some things I do and don't like about it.

Read on for my review....

 photo IMG_8910_zps1bf39f0f.jpg

ELF says, "Each Baked Palette features 10 gorgeous baked eyeshadows so you can achieve a flawless look whenever, wherever. The silky and blendable formula of our Baked Eyeshadow provides smooth and even application with each sweep of color. Baked in an oven, these eyeshadows offer rich pigmentation for a beautiful effect. Infused with active key ingredients Jojoba, Rose, Sunflower, Apricot and Grape to nourish and hydrate the skin. The long-lasting and shimmering color can be worn wet for a vibrant effect or dry for sheer pigmentation, offering a variety of gorgeous eye looks!"

The palette I got is in California. It consist of light and dark neutral eye shadows with pink and purple that seems to have a cool undertone. All the colors looks light and I was initially worried that the dark ones aren't gonna be dark, but once swatched and applied on the eyes, they were pigmented, dark and intense.

The eye shadows has a satin finish. Some have glitters, some don't. The ones with glitters are very glittery. But they can easily be dusted off before applying on the eyes. The texture varies. Some are chalky and dusty, while some are very smooth. However, the pigmentation is great, especially when applied wet. The eye shadows become even more pigmented and vibrant. But keep in mind that it makes it difficult to blend when applied wet.

They last all day with a really good primer underneath.

It comes in a rectangular palette. like how it feels sturdy and solid and has a bit of weight to it. There's also a big mirror inside, which is always a + for me.

$10 is a great value. It contains 10 eye shadows which makes them $1 each.

Overall, it's a great eye shadow palette, especially for the value. $10 for 10 colors and you get a good variety of neutral colors. My favorites is the dark brown and beige. They make a great everyday eye shadows.

Real Beauty: Celebrating Imperfections (Guest Post)

Hey loves, here is an article by Lisa Hunt talking about celebrating imperfections. I hope you guys find it informative and helpful.

Real Beauty: Celebrating Imperfections

There are huge numbers of beauty products on the market that claim to help cover up blemishes, help skin to look bright and enhance various features. However, the pressure has been mounting on the beauty industry to start celebrating imperfections rather than making people feel like they must always cover them up. Imperfections are, after all, what make a person individual, unique… and human.
There has been a rise in the number of campaigns aimed at targeting fashion and beauty magazines’ use of airbrushing and Photoshopping. Campaigners argue that beauty is as much about personal values and beliefs as it is about perfecting a certain look.

Thought-provoking campaigns
Dove is one such company that has campaigned on behalf of “real beauty” for a decade. The cosmetics company has now gone a step further by creating an app that reverts Photoshopped images of models and celebrities back to their “natural” state. It comes with the message ‘Don’t manipulate our perceptions of real beauty’. Dove also played a trick on the people that manipulate images – the creative directors, art directors and editors in the fashion and beauty world. It took them to a free download of what appeared to offer a skin brightening feature for photos. When the user downloaded it, the software actually reverted the image they were changing back to its original form. Dove’s other recent video, released this year, is now the most viewed ever on YouTube; it’s a sketching experiment in which women are asked to describe themselves to an artist who can’t see them. The artist then draws what he thinks they look like from their description. Then, that same person is described to the artist by another person that they recently met. The artist then sketches the person based on the other person’s description. The result is that the latter always results in a more “beautiful” and complementary picture.

Barbie’s time is up
The days of the Barbie doll appear now to be numbered; earlier this year, shopping and lifestyle brand, Refinery 29, issued a campaign highlighting the health problems Barbie would have in real life due to the proportions of the size of her body, and compared them to those of an average woman in the United States. It also released photos of a new Barbie – one without any make-up, and with braces on her (slightly stained) teeth. The campaign ended up going viral, and highlighted the fact that Barbie’s perceived beauty is neither healthy, realistic – nor even possible.

It’s not just women…
It is inevitable that everyone will have to deal with changing looks as they age; for women, it’s wrinkles and grey hair, and for men it’s hair loss that is among the main bug bears. This new trend for celebrating imperfections isn’t likely to change the habits of a lifetime of these image conscious people overnight; this trend now needs to evolve into a long-term change that is practiced by the fashion and beauty industries. It’s not just women that have felt the pressure to look perfect. Men, too, spend millions each year on anti hair loss treatments and products. Hair loss is such a pertinent issue for men that there is now a big industry built around trying to find the best chemicals to prevent hair loss. This issue can be just as baffling for a man as choosing the right foundation is for a woman; knowing what works and what doesn’t is something they usually have to discover through trial and error. Men will no doubt be as equally welcoming of the new ‘natural beauty’ trend as women will be.

Celebrity support
There also seems to be an influx of celebrities that support the call to embrace natural beauty; many top actresses and singers have taken to the likes of social media to post photos of themselves without any make-up. These have included Hollywood actresses Kristen Stewart and Jessica Chastain, as well as teen pop idol Demi Lovato.

On the catwalk
There was a considerable lack of make-up present on the catwalk for Autumn/Winter 2013-14. New York’s shows were a pioneer of this trend; renowned designers such as Edun and Suno paraded the bare beauty look, with models donning messy hair, minimal foundation and an absence of mascara.
Although make-up is great fun and a much-loved form of self-expression, this new natural beauty trend is giving the industry a new sense of direction; as women think ahead to stocking the winter make-up bag, they can rest assured that the natural and unkempt look is definitely in – and is something to be celebrated through the products they choose.

Back 2 School Makeup Tutorial

 photo BecksBday31_zpsaad98efe.jpg

Can't believe Summer is almost over and that means back to school for most of you loves! Are you ready? Are you excited? What are you most looking forward to? I remember when I was still in elementary and high school, I always look forward to new clothes, shoes and school supplies lol. I love the smell of fresh new notebooks, pencils and I always had the cutest pencil case lol. But in college, the first week of school was always dreadful. I stress trying to get in a class I need because it's full, buying ridiculously expensive books is annoying and finding out all my professors are the meanest and no one passes with is lots of fun lol. But I do miss being a student sometimes. Sometimes.

I did a back to school makeup tutorial that will look great for high school and college students. Even if you're not in school, it will still look great on you It's simple, neutral yet pretty with a pop of a soft pink lips. I hope you all like it.

Watch the video tutorial to get the look.

Review/SWATCH: EyesLipsFace Mineral Lipstick in Party Pink

I've tried several products from EyesLipsFace and their Mineral lipstick is one of my favorites. It's an all natural lipstick that's really smooth, easy  to wear and moisturizing. You're not gonna believe it's only $5.

Read on for my review...

 photo IMG_8976_zps6e2ea12f.jpg

ELF says, "Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft color naturally! This nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts create the perfect moisturizing formula. The sleek lipstick has superior color payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. Lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft throughout the day for no fuss, lip loving happiness. All our mineral makeup are mineral-based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes." (source:

It comes in an all black, hard plastic lipstick tube. It looks very sleek and sophisticated and reminds me of the high end NARS. I love it.

The shade I got is in party pink. It's a wearable medium pink, almost looks neutral on the lips with one application. It compliments my medium/tan skin tine very well.

It's pigmented and it's gives a sheer to medium coverage. It last about 3-4 hours on my lips. Once it fades, it leaves a nice pink stain. I like it.

It applies so smooth like a lip balm and feels like one too. It's non-drying and feels really good on the lips. It has a satin finish that leaves my lips a nice sheen. No need to top it off with a lip gloss.

See the photo of ingredients below. It has no parabens, preservatives or chemical dyes.

$5 is such a great buy especially for the quality.

You can purchase it on or at your local Target.

REVIEW: EyesLipsFace Waterproof Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara

Have you ever been wrong about something and was actually glad that you were wrong? It happened to me with the ELF Waterproof Lengthening and Volumizing Mascara.I didn't have much high hopes for it. As a matter of fact, I did't even wanna try it. A $3 mascara couldn't be that good. But after giving it a chance, I was surprised how good it is lol. It's not the best mascara I've ever tried, but it's one of the good ones.

Read on for my review...

 photo bdayfun14_zps1244eda3.jpg

ELF says, "Achieve thicker, fuller, and longer lashes that are beautiful and natural. The enlarged brush coats your lashes evenly for an enhanced appeal. The unique formula is clump free and quick drying so you can have color that stays on all day with no smudging and no flaking. Waterproof, tear-proof and sweat proof for a look that lasts against all odds." (source:

What I like:
  • The formula. It's not too thick.
  • It's easy to apply. It's best to just comb through the lashes as supposed to wiggling from the bottom and up.
  • It did a great job in lengthening my lashes.
  • It was able to hold the curl all day.
  • It's waterproof.
  • No flaking.
  • No smudging. I accidentally scratched my eye and it didn't smudge or flake. Amazing!
  • Retails for $3. Great value!

What I don't like:
  • I experienced a little clumping. The more layers result to more clumping.
  • It didn't really add volume as promised.
  • The zig zag motion as suggested application didn't work for me. It caused me to stain my lids. Do combing application instead.

Here's what it looks like on my lash.

Wow, my eyes look so uneven here. Weird. But look at the at the difference. I curled my lash very well and did 2-3 coats of mascara.

Overall, it's a good mascara. I didn't have high hopes for it, but turned out I was wrong lol. It darkened and lengthened my lashes and it was able to hold the curl all day. I definitely recommend it as a day time mascara.

I got this mascara in my EyesLipsFace Beauty Bundle. It's ELF's new subscription service. I will do a formal review on the bundle in a separate post.

Non-Dominant Hand Makeup Challenge

Have you ever tried doing your makeup with your non-dominant hand? Well, probably not but you guys should try it for fun just to see how you'll do. I was tagged by 2 of my good friends on Youtube to do a Non-Dominant Hand Makeup Challenge. I'm right handed so I had to do my makeup with my left hand. It's the most difficult, yet funniest tag I've ever done. A simple makeup up look that would've taken me 15 minutes to do took 40 long minutes lol. And my left hand was so tired, it almost cramped lol.

See how I did in the video.
