The Color Workshop Art of Eyes Eye Shadow Collection

 photo IMG_1737_zpse6840efa.jpg

The Color Workshop Art of Eyes is a new makeup collection from The Color Workshop that came out over the Holidays. It's currently on sale at  Walmart.com for $5.50. Included are 2 eye shadow palettes (9 eye shadows each), 4 liquid eye liners, 4 jumbo cream eye shadow pencils and a mascara.

Read on for my thoughts and swatches.

How the packaging looks like.

The eye shadows are my favorite in the collection. Each palette offers a variety of colors with different finishes. The pigmentation and texture is quite impressive. Easy to apply and pigmented. However, like any other eye shadows, it does need help of an eye shadow primer to keep it in place and prevent creasing. I suggest using the jumbo cream shadow pencils in the collection as a base.

The eye crayons or cream eye shadow pencils are also great! They are awesome eye shadow bases. My tip is to warm the product on the back on the hand to make it creamy before applying on the lids. The winter cold causes makeup to stiff up a bit.

 photo IMG_1749_zpsb0e9abde.jpg

 photo IMG_1751_zpsaeff0110.jpg

These liquid eye liners are my least favorite in the collection. Although the colors are beautiful (blue, gold, silver and black with shimmers), the consistency is watery and sheer. It takes 3 application to get a solid color. It also takes awhile to dry, which could be a bit of a pain when you're doing your makeup.

The mascara, for me, is a day time mascara. It darkens and thickens my lashes enough for a day time look. It also holds up to the curl fairly well.

What are your thoughts on this collection?
Have you seen it at your local Walmart?

December IPSY Glam bag 2013

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service where you pay $10 and you get 4-5 deluxe beauty samples sent to you. There's a lot of similar beauty service out there, but Ipsy is one of my favorites. The variety of beauty products is great, and there's always at least 2-3 full size products, making the bag worth more than $10.

Here's the Ipsy Glam Bag for December. I love it! Included are products that will allow you to create a complete Holiday look. I love the eye shadow trio, nude lipstick, false lashes and cream highlighter. And they are all full size products. What a treat!

The patent quilted bag is so classy. It's the perfect bag to take at Holiday parties.

 photo IMG_1696_zps19953457.jpg

I'm really pleased with all the products I received in this month's Ipsy bag. I can use all the products. Well, maybe except for the nail polish, but it's still a beautiful color.

Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colours REVIEW/SWATCHES

 photo IMG_1243_zps27eeaad3.jpg

The new Wet n' Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain Moisturizing Lip Colours are 2 in one lip product. It's a lip balm and lip stain that suppose to moisturize and leave a long lasting color on your lips at the same time. I've tried them, and they are absolutely fabulous. It's the next hot thing at the drugstore. You have to get your hands on them!

Let's go through each shade, shall we...

Red-dy or Not
Wearable cherry red shade with glossy finish. I've used it a lot over the Holiday season.

Lady and the Vamp
Lighter than in appears in the packaging. A very wearable red wine color with glossy finish. I love rocking bold "in your face" lip colors, but it's nice to try a shade that that's a bit toned down. Definitely a great introduction color to deep lip colors.

Rico Mauve
What a fun name! My absolute favorite in the collection. It's a mauvey pink shade that goes great with my medium/tan skin tone. It's almost like a natural nude shade on me with a hint of pink. It's so beautiful.

A Stiff Pink
If you love bright pink lips, then you'll love this one. True to color bright bubble gum pink shade with a glossy finish.

Pinky Promise
True to color pale pink with a metallic finish. My least favorite in the collection. I dislike anything metallic on my lips because it highlights wrinkles and makes me look old. It's juts my personal preference.

Nudist Colony
True to color pale nude shade with a slight metallic finish (not as metallic as Pinky Promise).
Also, my least favorite in the collection. It's too pale against my medium/tan skin tone. I can make it work, but I prefer a more darker nude shade. It looks much better on people with pale to light skin tone.

Swatches on my arm

Red-dy or Not, Lady and the Vamp, Rico Mauve, Stiff Pink, Pinky Promise and Nudist Colony

I love the texture. It's just like a lip balm, smooth, buttery and easily glides on the lips. The jumbo crayon packaging makes it so easy to apply. It's perfect if you're in the rush when doing makeup like I do lol. They are all sheer to full coverage. 1 layer for sheer and layer more for full coverage. They are also very moisturizing. I didn't feel the need to apply a lip balm underneath.

Most of the shades did stay on my lips for a long time (Except for Pinky Promise and Nudist Colony. (Once they faded, it left the metallic crease on my lips that made my them look dry and wrinkly). The initial color stayed on for about 2 hours, then after awhile, with eating and drinking, it left a nice stain on my lips. Even when you take it off with a makeup wipe, the stain still shows a bit. I suggest to use an oil base makeup remover.

Overall, I think these are great new products for 2014, and I highly recommend them. You really can't beat the 2 in 1 for such an affordable price.  Oh and just so you know, these are a permanent collection, so you can get them year round, whoo hoo!

Angles and Arches Beauty Event 2013

 photo IMG_1265_zps00da992a.jpg

I had the wonderful opportunity of attending the Angles and Arches Beauty Bar Event in Manhattan Beach, Ca. Angles and Arches is the very first official Beauty Bar in the South Bay. Located inside Hush Up Hair Spa, they specialized in brow shaping  and makeup application. The event was hosted by celebrity makeup artist and owner, RonAnn Myers and her team of makeup artist.

It was such a fun event. RonAnn's team provided makeup lessons on a few Holiday looks. I love how they were full of energy and so passionate about makeup. I made sure to ask as much questions as I can and soak up all their knowledge. It's always nice to learn from other makeup artists and see how they do their own makeup application.

Wet n Wild Fergie Jet-Set Makeup Palette Review/Swatches

 photo IMG_0200_zps63dba58d.jpg

Wet n Wild Fergie's Jet-Set makeu Palette $30. "Wet n Wild presents the LIMITED EDITION FERGIE'S JET-SET MAKEUP PALETTE, curated by the Duchess herself! The Set: The dazzling collection includes a makeup essential created conveniently in one-place" (taken from the packaging)

In case you didn't know, I'm a sucker for makeup palettes. I love seeing different colors of makeup in one cute palette or any kind of packaging. So, when I learned about Wet n Wild Fergie Jet-Set makeup palette, I couldn't contain myself with excitement! It contains everything you need to create a complete makeup look (except for concealer and foundation). It has 132 shades for eyes, lips and face in one cute, black box. It's available exclusively at your local Walgreens for $30 along with the rest of the Fergie Holiday limited edition collection.

Read on for my review...

The packaging is quite impressive. Usually, big makeup palettes from the drugstore are flimsy and light. But not this one. It's very heavy and solid. It opens up like a book and you simply slide out the different levels. First you see eye shadows, then lip colors, blushers, eye liners and bronzer and highlighters. It also closes magnetically, so the case stays in place.

Here's how it looks on my vanity table/drawer so you can see how big and wide it gets. It's awesome isn't it?

 36 eye shadows

I love the variety of colors from neutrals, colorful and darks. The possibilities are endless! Surprisingly, the quality of these eye shadows are quite impressive. They have decent to great pigmentation depending on the finish. I notice the shimmery ones are  more smooth and has better color pay off than the matte ones. A good eye shadow base/primer is definitely needed to kick up the vibrancy up a notch. Also, they are a bit powdery, which is understandable with drugstore makeup palettes, so make sure you don't dip your brush too hard.

Here is a Fall/Thanksgiving makeup look I did using the eye shadows. See more photos HERE.

This palette has the most gorgeous silver and grey eye shadows I've ever seen!

 photo IMG_1052_zps5b0b4066.jpg

Some of the eye shadow colors has a duo chrome quality to them which means the color changes depending on the angle of the light. That's unusual for a drugstore palette, especially big ones.

6 Blushes

All the blushes has some kind of shimmer or glitter(gold and silver), but don't be intimidated. The shimmers are not too noticeable when applied on the cheeks. The texture is not too powdery. I also like that they're all different shades of pink which I think looks great on all skin tones. My favorite is the pink/berry tone blush all the way to the right.

2 eye liner pencils and 1 lip liner

I like the red lip liner more than the 2 eye liner pencils. It's a rich red color that glides on the lips smoothly and actually stays on. The eye liners are just okay. They apply smooth and doesn't tug on the eyes, but they don't last long at all.

 photo IMG_0224_zps6cdab345.jpg

2 Face Powders and 1 Bronzer

The powders are quite nice. The texture is smooth and actually blends well. I have medium/tan skin tone and it's too light on me, so I could use it as a highlight powder to apply om my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose. I just have to make sure I don't put too much. I like the bronzer a lot. It has soft gold sheen that looks really nice on the skin. Can be use as a contour, but I'd rather brush it on the side of my face in an "E" motion to add a nice glow to the face.

 photo IMG_0227_zps073d143c.jpg photo IMG_0220_zps15300a4f.jpg
The lip colors and lip glosses are my least favorite in the palette. The colors are so beautiful, but they don't have a great color pay off. They are also very sticky and uncomfortable. I don't like them at all.

Overall, I like this palette and would recommend it to a friend. The concept and the look is great. The highlights are the most definitely the eye shadows, blushes and bronzer. They are awesome! You get a variety of colors and finishes with great pigmentation. The eye liners and lip colors are a miss, which is a bummer since it's a whole section of them. However, for the price of $30, it's still a great product. You might even snag it for a lower price if you catch it on a sale or if you have a coupon.

What do you guys think?
