Ball Beauty Supply Haul

 photo IMG_2042_zps7129213a.jpg

I wanna share a small haul I did this week from Ball Beauty Supply in Los Angeles. It was my first time visiting, and I really like it. I've never heard of this store before, but apparently they've been around since the 50's.They carry different cosmetic lines, skin care, hair care, beauty tools, and they also sell popular professional makeup brands that you won't find in other beauty supply stores such as Cinema Secrets, Joe Blasco, La Femme and even Sigma Makeup brushes. The staff are super nice and provide great customer service. They just moved in to this location, so it's a bit unorganized. I suggest to make a list of what you need or place an order online and pick it up in the store.

I mentioned in my last post that I'm updating my Freelance Makeup Kit, so I picked up some stuff I need. I got some hair clips, blotting papers, styling gown, metal palette, silicone disposable mascara wands, plastic spatulas and lip brushes.

I also got Cinema Secrets Professional Brush Cleaner, Super Sealer and Moisture Spray. I'm very excited to try them.

Here are some photos of the store

Make-up Designory Foundation Palette #2 Review/Swatches

 photo cassy10_zps9523907b.jpg

One of the things I hope to do this year is to get back into freelance makeup artistry. No matter how busy I am with work, I really need to find the time to pursue my passion. The first thing I did was update my makeup kit by replacing old makeup with new ones. I got a new foundation palette by MUD or Make-up Designory. I am absolutely in love with it.The palette comes with 8 refillable shades. It has great coverage, creamy texture and has nice semi-matte finish that looks very natural.

Make-up Designory says, "From a sheer natural look to a flawless full-coverage finish, these versatile Cream Foundations are easy to apply and hold up beautifully under the most extreme conditions. Formulated for ultra-smooth blending and application. Find your perfect match and use it alone, or blend colors like the pros to achieve a specific skin tone. Available in 8 refillable colors." (source: www.mudshop.com)

  • The shade selection. Palette #2 comes with 8 shades from pale, medium to dark with yellow/warm undertone. I am able mix my own shade or use the light and dark shades to high light and contour.
  • The texture of the cream foundation is creamy. It's easy to apply. I heard this is a new and improved formula. I've never tried the old formula so I can't compare. This one does not require a lot of effort to warm up and blend. I am able to apply it directly on my face and blend with a foundation brush or beauty blender easily.
  • It has a beautiful semi-matte finish. It looks very natural. I love it.
  • Amazing coverage. It can be from sheer to full coverage depending on your need. I am able to cover redness, spots, acne and as long as I layer it. It doesn't look cakey and looks quite natural.
  • It can last all day/night with a good primer underneath. My face does get a bit shiny at the end of the day, so I just have to blot.
  • The packaging is sturdy and has a bit of weight to it. It also has a big mirror.
  • It has 3.5 gm/.13 oz refill pan. That's a decent amount of product. Most foundation palette offers less product than that.
  • The price is great. It retails for $99 on the MUDshop.com. Single compact is $28. is You can get it for a lower price is you wait for a sale or if you're a MUD alumni.

Review: Tahitian Monoi Anti-Aging Sugar Scrub by Faith Aromatherapy

 photo IMG_1973_zpsff6446b2.jpg

I love exfoliating my body. I do it at least once a week. I like the feeling of the rough sugar, salt or whatever kind of exfoliant I'm in the mood for against my skin. Body scrubs makes my skin feel super smooth, supple and fresh.

I recently tried a sample of the Tahitian Monoi Anti-Aging Sugar Scrub by Faith Aromatherapy. It's included in this month's Ipsy Glam bag. I really like it. I like it as much as the body scrubs from The Body Shop. It's sugar and oil scrub that's perfect for dry skin. I was able to get 2 uses out of the small sample jar. I used my fingers to scoop it out and scrubbed it directly onto my skin starting on the rough parts such as elbows and knees. I like the texture of the fine sugar. It was rough enough to exfoliate, then it slowy melted onto my skin. The oil left my skin super smooth and moisturized.

Ipsy says, "Part of Faith Aromatherapy’s Tahitian Monoi Collection, this anti-aging sugar scrub uses fine granules to exfoliate cells, while Monoi Oil increases collagen production, locks in moisture and fights free radical damage for smoother, brighter skin. The intoxicating citrus-floral fragrance awakens the senses and uplifts the spirit."
(source: Ipsy.com)
tahitian monoi oil*, sweet orange oil*, brown and white cane sugars*, safflower oil*, *certified organic or ecocert

The main ingredient besides sugar is Tahitian Monio Oil. Now what the heck is a Monoi Oil? First time I heard of it is when I used to work at The Body Shop. It's the main ingredient in their Spa Wisdom Polynesia Monoi Miracle Oil. It's a perfumed oil made from petals of Gardenia, and it's added in a lot of beauty products such as moisturizers and lotions.

Overall, I really enjoyed this scrub and I highly recommend it escpially if you have dry skin. It's rough on initial application but it slowly melts onto the skin leaving it super smooth and supple.

BH Cosmetics 10 Piece Eco Brush Set REVIEW

 photo IMG_9152_zpsbb586f00.jpg

I wanna share a great deal on the 10 Piece Eco Brush Set by BH Cosmetics. Orginally $30, it's now on sale for $12.95 It's the same price I paid when I bought it at the Generation Beauty event last year. See it HERE. You get 10 piece brushes made from synthetic bristles with bamboo handles. Plus, it comes with a cute beige linen case that's perfect for travelling.

 photo IMG_9147_zps134a6049.jpg

I like the linen brush case. You can always throw it in the washer if it gets dirty.

 photo IMG_9153_zpse7bdc03d.jpg

I love how the brushes are light weight. The ferrule is made from recycled aluminim and the handle is made from bamboo. The bristles are extremely soft and doesn't shed. I only experienced minimal shedding the first time I washed them, which is normal when you wash makeup brushes for the first time.

 photo IMG_9159_zpsdf691df1.jpg

Powder brush, Angled Blush brush and Foundation brush

All are super soft and gets the job done nicely. My favorite is the Powder brush. It's super soft and fluffy.

 photo IMG_9162_zps8ed7c01a.jpg

Blending Brush , Contour Blending Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, Smudge Brush, Flat Eyeliner Brush, Flat Shadow Brush, Lip/Concealer Brush

All are great and gets the job done, but I wish the Flat Eyeliner Brush was Angled. I'm used to using an angled liner brush when I fill in my eye brows and apply gel liner on my upper lash liner and water line. It still works, but I just find angled brush easier to use. Also, I wish the blending brush was fluffier. Since the bristles is synthetic, it's a bit stiff to use for blending. Again, it still works, but I just have to put a little more effort into blending.

 photo IMG_9166_zpsc84f248e.jpg

Naturally-dyed lime green bamboo handles

 photo IMG_9167_zpsbc9c4f47.jpg

Overall, for the low price of $12, I really can't complain. I highly recommend it. Even though it didn't have the Angled Eyeliner Brush that I prefer, the fact that there's 10 brushes that are super soft, easy to clean and will most likely last you for a long time is such a great deal!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Eyeshadow Palette REVIEW/SWATCHES

     photo IMG_1449_zps42e9d6e1.jpg

A makeup junkie like me can never have enough neutral eye shadows. Never! Especially, if it's from Urban Decay cosmetics. When I first heard of the Naked 3 palette, I couldn't contain myself with excitement. I love my Naked 2 and I wondered what Naked 3 had to offer. I immediately did research on the internet, and my jaw dropped when I saw what it looked like. OMG, beautiful rosy neutral eye shadows; it's probably the most beautiful eye shadow palette I've ever seen. I had to have it.

Urban Decay Naked 3 eye shadow palette $52 is the latest addition to the Naked eye shadow collection. It consist of 12 rosy neutral eye shadows in different finishes. It also comes with dual ended brush and 4 sample packet of their famous Primer Potion eye primers.

    Available at UrbanDecay.com
    Sephora.com

I'll do another post comparing it to Naked 2, but for now let's focus on this beautiful palette.

     photo IMG_1453_zpsa166d081.jpg

I love the variety of shades and finishes. It has beautiful satin and shimmers in light, medium and deep, and enough mattes to enable you to create a well balance eye makeup. The Rosy-pinky hues eye shadows usually compliments people with cool undertone, but the eye shadows can also be considered warm because of the browns in it. Either way, I think it looks great on any skin tone.

The quality of the eye shadows is undeniably amazing! The mattes, satins and shimmers are soft, finely-milled, buttery and blendable. The pigmentation is superb and a little goes a long way. They last all day with a good eye primer underneath. My favorite is Nooner, a "medium rosy brown matte". It's great blender color. I also like Blackheart, a "black matte with pink micro sparkle". It's a unique shade I don't have in my collection.

My least favorite is Dust (2nd to the left). It's quite chalky because of the chunky glitters in it, which makes it difficult to apply. I end up with a lot of fall out on my face. To make it work, I have to apply in gentle patting motion instead of sweeping across the eye lids. It's still a beautiful color though.
